Whether you are an attorney, an investigator, a mitigation specialist, a legal assistant, an administrative specialist, an office manager, or another member of the defense team, public defense work provides a meaningful opportunity to positively impact a client's life every day.

The Kansas Board of Indigents’ Defense Services provides public defenders to represent indigent clients charged with adult felonies at trial and on appeal throughout criminal courtrooms in Kansas.

A Public Defender treats each client with compassion and dignity while providing legal counsel and advocacy. Kansas public defenders, investigators, mitigation specialists, legal assistants, administrative specialists, and office managers continue to advance their skills throughout their career with the support of the Training Division and through the mentorship of experienced attorneys and staff. We work together as a team to offer each of our clients a high quality, zealous defense in every case.
